My Peeeenis

For Christmas, Boden and Hutson were given magnet connectors.  The first time Hutson played with them was in Sunriver and towards bedtime.  He was not wearing pants and then he starts screaming…”My PEEEEENIS…My PEEEENIS”.   Two magnets connected and clamped on his penis.  Obviously, this hurt and he asked for a bandaid and a kiss.  Boden thought it might be fun to try it but after conversation with mom, he decided against.

This morning, Boden had a test of wills with mom over bacon.  For breakfast, Boden demanded four slices of bacon.  When the four slices were cooked and then given to Bode, he refused to eat.  So the battle began.  Boden sat at the table for over an hour refusing to eat bacon.  He was not allowed to leave the table until he finished the four pieces.  He threw tantrums but would not eat.  After Boden said “I don’t want to eat the bacon, I want to play a game”  Hutson replied…”Boden, that is your choice”…reiterating what mom had told Boden earlier.

The boys had a great time using their new sleds in Sunriver.  We found a nice little hill and had great fun sledding down the hill.  It was about 50 yard slide.  To get to the hill, the boys were dragged behind mom and dad for about 4 blocks.  Tough work for us.  But when we were at the top of the hill and let them go….it was awesome.  When Boden got to the bottom, he said “awesome”.  Hutson said ‘that’s cool”.  Both were exhausted after running up and down the hill they had to be dragged back home for some hot chocolate.

Christmas and Ski Lessons

After Christmas, we took a trip to Sunriver, OR for a ski trip.  Hutson was unfortunately too young for lessons but Bode was able to sign up.  Bode was ready to go…Ski jacket and overalls.  New hat and gloves, rental boots, helmet, goggles and skis…he was ready.  They prepped for about 1 hr and then hit the slopes.  Marching out of the lodge, Bode looked miserable.  It was cold but not too windy so good conditions.  They started practice by walking in the boots which is awkward.  Then one ski and then two.  By the end of the 3 hr class, he was skiing down a small hill with a snowball in his hand ready to throw it at the instructor at the bottom.  He had a huge smile on his face at the end!  His second class, the weather conditions were worse.  Cold, windy and snowy…but he was ready.  Again, after a morning of skiing, he finished with a huge smile and said, “I cut this mountain”.

In the morning, Boden was full of energy, and he farted…he then said, “I have so much energy air came out of my butt”!

We tried to give Hutson a mom and dad ski lesson but that lasted only 10 minutes before Hutson make it clear he was done and only was interested in the snow mobiles.  Hutson also had on a thick jacket and coat.  He had fun running around in the snow but quickly tired and wanted to be held.  He quickly fell asleep in the car around noon.

After skiing, we took a bath and Hutson “beeped” in the tub, looked up and said rather mater of factly…”Bubbles came out of my butt!”  Later, Hutson lost a car under the bed and when dad retrieved it, he said “you saved the day, dad”.

Leading up to Christmas, we played “Elf on the Shelf”.  The boys loved looking for Roofie every morning and always wondered how he would make it back and forth from the North Pole and our house every day.  They also wondered what he told Santa.  When they did something naughty like hit each other or didn’t share, we always asked what Santa would think if the Elf told him.  They usually straightened up.

At Christmas eve, we had a quiet night and watched Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, set out cookies and milk for Santa and some carrots for the reindeer and went to bed.  They slept a bit late Christmas morning and when we went down stairs, they were elated when Santa left them gifts and ate the cookies and drank the milk.  They had a great time opening presents and playing with all their gifts all day.  When Hutson opened his gifts, he would follow up with an “oh my god”.

Soccer Classes

Soccer practice began last week for the boys.  They are much more into it this time around.  Both lover getting out there, running around with the other kids and kicking the ball.  Boden is one of the faster kids in the group and follows directions very well.  Hutson has a great time interpreting how practice should go and drifts in and out as he likes.

We’ve started a new tradition called Elf on the Shelf.  The elf is santa’s helper and reports back to him every night while the boys are in bed.  The next morning, the boys have to find  “Roffie”…this is the name the boys gave the elf.  They love getting up and trying to find him.

Last week, we went to the Christmas Tree Farm and cut down our tree. Boden and Hutson were great helpers.  Hutson loved playing hide and seek among the trees.  Boden took his turn sawing down the tree giving a couple strokes with the saw.  He also helped carry the tree out of the forest.  Afterwards we all had hot chocolate to warm up.

Last Saturday was the last round of swim lessons with the boys for the year.  We had a scary situation with Hutson.  He and Bapa went down the big waterside together and at the bottom, Bapa lost control of Hutson and they both went under water for a few seconds.  The life guard at the bottom of the slide were there and grabbed both Hutson and Bapa pulling them to safety.  Afterwards, Hutson said “I went under water…whheeee” and didn’t seem phased at all.

The other night, mom was putting Boden to bed and giving him a snuggle.  Boden turns to her and says “why are you still here mama?”  The other night, while reading books, we asked the boys if they could keep a secret…Boden said yes…Hutson said “NO”.  Asked if they’ve been naughty or nice?  Boden said nice.  Hutosn said naughty.
