No-No

Hutson now says “No-No” to everything.  Not just no but a very polite no-no.  Not sure where he picked this up.  Hutson also has a very complex way of drinking his bottle, holding his snuggly and changing his shirt.  He starts by holding the bottle in one hand and the snuggly in the other and puts his head thru the hole.  He then puts the bottle in his mouth and puts snuggly in his left hand and is able to fit his right hand thru the sleeve and then switches handsj and puts the left hand on.   Hutson is saying so many different words and has a passive vocab with is also amazing.  He is also very observant…he will notice the moon still shining in the morning sun.  He’ll also call out trucks or bicycles along the way.

Boden helped me plant our herb garden today.  We planted rosemary, thyme, parsley, cilantro and mint.  We even planted some sunflowers around the back yard.  We both put dirt into the pots and Boden watered and I carried them to the deck.   We’ll see how they do.  We have deer and other wild life around so not sure if they will last but was fun.

We went to the beach yesterday and had a great time.  We set up and it was low tide so the water was quite a ways away.  Both the boys are like magnets to water.  Within 5 minutes of getting set up, they were off.  Mind you, the water is freezing even though it was a beautiful 55 degree day.  Boden and Hutson had a great time playing and running away from the waves.  Hutson wound up wiping out and falling down getting soaked.  Afterwards, Hutson didn’t want to have anything to do with the surf.  Meanwhile Boden made a friend and ran around with Augustine…a 5 yr old for about 30 minutes.   Everything Augustine did, Boden mimmicked.  Very cute.

When we ask to give Hutson a kiss, he loweres his head and allows people to kiss the top of his head.   Tonight, daddy went to give Hutson a good night kiss and he put his head down and Hutson said…’NO’, and pushed his head up.  He then lowered his head for a kiss on the top of his head.   At bedtime, mom’s routine is to say good night and people who ‘love you’.  So, last night…mom said good night Hutson, mommy and daddy love you’…Hutson responds ‘Bode too?…nanna and bapa too?’  The weather is improving and Bode and Hutson have been playing with neighbor Samira when dad gets home.  They play chase, draw and tonight while dad was cleaning the gutters, they were playing with worms.

Hutson is also turning into a bully.  Last night, Boden and Hutson got into a tussle. Both were pushing back and forth with Hutson not backing down.  Hutson then grabbed Bode’s arm and went for the bite.  Bode shook loose and then started running away.  Hutson took after him and chased him around the house a couple of times before mom ‘saved’ Bode.

Hutson today said ‘pee-pee’ and walked to the bathroom.  This is the first time Hut has declaired he needs to go before he has to go and then actually goes.  Yea Hutson.

Boden’s starting to run fast.  He states ‘I’m faster than you daddy’.  And I sometimes wonder if he is.  He loves to run and jump.  Neighbor Samira and Boden play tag and chase.  Even though she is 6, he’s able to keep up.   He’s curious and often asks what we are doing and interested in how we are doing it.

Bedtime is still a struggle.  He wants to sleep in mom and dad’s bed.  He wants to snuggle.  Gets out of bed and overall is a three year old.  He comes down stairs and throws a fit.  He really struggles to stay awake, or get mom or dad to go to bed with him.

Boden’s best friend at school is Aven.  Every morning at drop off he goes to class and runs over to Aven.  Before their friendship, he was very cautious going to school.  Now he loves going.  Aven’s mom said he talks about Boden all the time at home as well.

Our friends came over on Sunday with their two year old son.  The three boys played really well together.  Boden was especially gracious, sharing his toys and playing in the bouncy castle or rolling around the house on the scooters.  4 hours of straight play.  They all were exhausted.

Boden’s sleeping habits are getting a little funny.  He’s made a bed for himself on the floor of mommy and daddy’s room.  He’s slept there for the last couple of nights.  He also slept without a diaper and made it thru the night.  A big step for him.

Mom bought Bode a watch and he’s worn it every day since.  He was very proud the first day to school.  He wanted to roll his sleaves all the way up…even his coat.  Teacher Nick played along and ooogled at Bode’s cool new watch.

Boden has taken his swimming to the next level.  He is putting his whole head and face under water.  He can hold his breath for 5 seconds and will put his face in the water while kicking.

Both boys have taken more responsibility for themselves.  Both are setting the table and clearing their dishes.  They are feeding and watering cici.  Both like to shread paper in the paper shreader.  After getting home from work, we are all playing ‘tickle monster’.  Running around the house like crazy to the point of exhaustion for Hutson and Boden.

Hutson is starting to use complete sentences.  He asked Bode ‘are you all done with your bath?’  He also said ‘almost’ when asked if he was finished with his bath.  He is also starting to protest quite a bit.  He will scream at the top of his lungs and go limp when trying to pick him up.

Potty training is going along for Hutson.  He will go when put on the toilet but will not initiate.  He loves his potty treats…gummi bears. He wants to eat them just to get on the potty and will then clap and get right off after he eats them.

Potty training is coming along and
